about

Power Wagon is the result of musical journeys colliding at an intimate pub in Clonakilty, County Cork on the south west coast of Ireland.
In this case players from both sides of the pond, and both sides of the 49th parallel bring their individual grooves and experience to a palate that blends Old Time string band music from Appalachia, with Old Time Rock n Roll, featuring Fiddle, Banjo, Electric Guitar, Bass, and Drums.

The band play dance music through and through, at the core and all around, it’s not a cerebral take on tradition, but honors the generations who came before with a musical celebration designed to extract joy and abandon. In other words, it’s fun, and you don’t have to think too hard to enjoy it. The challenge is standing still.

Standing still is not something this band is comfortable with, the members all have busy and storied careers touring and producing records. The energy of Power Wagon flows through the joy they have playing together and being in the same place at the same time. When that place was Shanley’s pub- a place that by either birthright, close community or extended association brought this group together, they decided to record it.

Live At Shanley’s” puts the listener’s ears to a Trans-Atlantic pulse which is ancient and brand new at the same time, and reminds us that great music is not made under a microscope, but by great players, performing at great venues.
